Dear Charlotte, was just laughing because i saw the replacement of the textblock " my a .....s " with "i disagree " ! well, that's fine, so we can protect the moral standards of our beloved YOUTH, which does not visit us here at all ! haha (LOL ): now i will post the true phrase, but this time in total bavarian dialect ! ok, i wanted to mail, that the old name ULENSPEGEL (ulenspiegel/eulenspiegel) simply meant: "LEGGDS MI AM OARSCH !" totally according to his way of life and provocant activities the old TILL (DYL) was famous for ! ---- and now i will look, if my bavarian expression will be changed into "i disagree" !? GUESS, NO ! ciao and SERVUS : Bernie

Hi Bernie, I'm always happy when I see "Today by Bernhard" Thanks for all the info on Eulenspiegel. Yes, I did read some of his antics, how he deliberately initiated a conversation and how he "reasoned" with people. A wise owl! Many such and other stories and accounts have been and are written anonymously by highly intelligent and witty people to protect themselves. No, they, seeing what "gows down" in world, don't "like to work with their hands", they are warrior's of the mind. One can talk all one wants, but when one becomes effective in influencing the thinking process of the world, one is considered dangerous and must be done away with, to this day, and everywhere in the world. Character assassination works also. To provoke people to observe and think, and "keep them from resuming their hibernation", as Gurdjieff, another dangerous man, puts it, there always was and is Theater, and those wandering about the land intending to provoke individuals make fools of themselves to get their point across and get away with it. Just think of the Court Jester, privy to secrets others were not, whom the king or queen deemed wise enough to consult in important matters. For many years I know a savant idiot who, his family complains, has not "never amounted to anything." A first rate artist he wanders the streets, walks into shops to ask if he could paint or "letter" advertisements on the front of their building. He letters in all fonts so beautifully and perfect that even Jerry Garcia complimented him on his gift of the art of scripting. "Interestingly we know of some other "EULENSPIEGEL"-like acting person in other countries or cultures! so we have a (jewish) man named Hershele Ostropolier (in the early 19. century/ today UKRAINE) and the turkish Hodscha Nasreddin." Bingo! That would be our highly esteemed Mullah Nassr Eddin! For that one, Bernie, you get the four Roses I have beside me The fools mirror Charlotte

Funnnnny! Bernhard, I knew that's what it meant. It has been my life long phrase, exept I turned it a bit: "De kenna me oi am osh lecka!" Or, "am Buckel runterrutschn!"
BTW, Don has been here for a split second.

Chapter 17 p. 142
In short, the next paragraph states that ether, which has three properties, enters into all cosmic formations and serves "fo connecting all the active elements of these formations; and afterwards when it's three fundamental parts reblend, then the said properties of Etherokrilno is re-established."
I don't get this one alltogether and don't feel like sitting here thinking about it for an hour, so I'll wait.
To "have still another very striking and illuminating fact for the better understanding of the difference between the various brain-systems of beings, namely, the systems called 'one-brained,' 'two-brained,' and 'three-brained," says Beelzebub, we have to look at how the omnipresent active element relates "to the common presence", or all that we are at the moment, "of beings of every kind, and what are the cosmic results actualized owing to it."
Page 143 is more than I can handle in a few minutes. Saved by having to go to work.

Chapter 17 p. 143
First my teacher:
" . . . we will consider briefly the Azoth. This word, Azoth, is derived from the Arabic 'Ahz-Zay'-Ook, (this may be Beelzebub's 'Okidanokh') meaning 'the mercury'; and it is also said to imply that force or essence which, in its scope, encompasses everything from 'A-to-Z'. It is the one essence of the three philosophical principles or three aspects of the Universal Agent - the manifestation of the of the Universal Life Force at various levels. Think of the Azoth as a digestive enzyme of varying potency."
The one, two, and three-brain systems of Gurdieff.
"Know first that, in general, every such cosmic formation called 'brain' receives its formation from those crystallizations the affirming source for whose arising" according to TEXTthe One Essence but Three in Aspect localized in the omnipresent Azoth, is responsible, and of which mercury is the messenger.
Beelzebub will explain later in detail "about the process itself of the arising of these corresponding being-brains in the presence of beings . . . " Meanwhile, the universal life force "enters into the presences of beings through all the three kinds of being-food."
The universal life force is obliged to participate "in the formation of all kinds of products which serve as all three being-foods and is always contained in the presence of these products." We breathe in everything from A to Z and digest it.
It is not necessary to be "in contact with the emanations of any large cosmic concentration", he probably means the Sun, Moon, Planets or Stars, for the "process of Djartklom", which I think is transubstantiation, to proceed in us and other beings, which is "the chief peculiarity of the omnipresent Azoth: the mercury, "but the factors for this process" in us "are either the results of the conscious process of 'Partkdolg-duty' on the part of the beings themselves--(which process he will explain later in detail - *a deep breath and groan*) or of that process of Great Nature Herself which exists in the Universe", namely: "The-obtaining-of-the-required-totality-of-vibrations-by-adaptation."
"This latter process proceeds in beings absolutely without any participation of their consciousness."
This is beautiful and true.
It reminds me of Great Nature Herself evolving an embryo, the how of which the mother has no idea and therefore cannot participate. Neither can her doctor.

Chapter 17 p. 144
I don't understand Beelzebub's three brains yet. He says further that when the universal life force enters into our presence and transubstantion proceeds, the "fundamental parts" blend with our percepetion "which correspond with it according to what is called 'Kindred-vibrations" which are present in us at the moment", and the fundamental parts of the life force concentrate "upon the corresponding brain." Or like attracts like.
"And these blendings are called 'being-Impulsakri.' The blendings of the three potencies of prana cause a sacred impulse? Whether or not G means to say this, it is a rose for me because I never thought of it that way.
"It is necessary to further notice that these localizations or brains in beings serve not only as apparatuses for the transformation of corresponding cosmic substances for the purpose of the Most Great common-cosmic" flux and flow-ever changing, "but also as the means for beings whereby their conscious self-perfecting is possible." Yes!
This is, of course, my chief aim, and it "depends upon the quality of the presence" of impulses "concentrated or deposited upon the said corresponding being-brains.
There is a "direct" and "special" commandment "of our ALL-EMBRACING ENDLESSNESS" apropos the qualities of these impulse-beings, which we should heed as: "Always guard against such perceptions as may soil the purity of your brains."
I found that this can be done by "self-remembering" which I forget often, but being reminded again helps to keep it more conscious.
We have the possibility of perfecting ourselfs, which the ancient Egyptians obviously, and so many others, teach all along, because, says Beelzebub, there are three centers or three brains localized in our everyday presence, and when we imbibe and digest Azoth, "the three holy forces" of the universal transmuting agent, salt, sulfur, and mercury "are deposited and acquire the possibility for their further, this time, independent actualization."
So when they are actualized independently we can consciously recombine them for a desired manifestation. Sounds like alchemical magic, which the Egyptians called "sweet art" or venerated art, and buried it in a tomb called "Venerium."

Chapter 17 p. 145 By consciously studying and staying with it on purpose, we can utilize the three holy forces, make our own laws, and bring into our presence all that is good and holy, which facilitates "Objective or Divine Reason." But instead of employing these laws for our own self-perfection, we use these three brain centers in our presence for our own destruction "chiefly on account of the irregular conditions of ordinary being-existence established by (ourselves), these possibilities beat their wings in vain." The locality of the three brains in the body human: " . . . predetermined by Great Nature" for concentrating and actualizing the holy force of Holy-Affirming is in our head. "The second brain, which transforms and crystallizes the second holy force, the Holy-Denying, in humans as well as in Beelzebub and his kin, "is along the whole of (the) back--in the 'spinal column.' "But as regards the place of concentration and source for the further manifestation of the third holy force--the Holy-Reconciling", its "exterior" form in humans differs completely from the Karateans. Beelzebub's home planet is Karatas. Here we should make a mental note that the being-brain or organ of "Holy-Reconciling" in primordial humanity, was "exactly similar" as in the Karateans, the pineal gland, "but for many reasons which" we will understand for ourselves down the road, "Great Nature was compelled little by little to regenerate this brain and to give it the form which it now has in the contemporay beings." The pineal gland was the organ of sight and sense in Lemurian times, now spoken of as the "Third Eye." There is much adoe about it in the teachings of the ancient Egyptians. Beelzebub says that this being-brain in us contemporay humans "is not localized in one common mass, as is proper to the presences of all other three-brained beings of our Great Universe, but (in us humans today) is localized in parts, according to what is called 'Specific Functioning,' and each such part is localized in a different place of (our) whole planetary body." And though the various parts are concentrated in different places in our body, their "seperate functionings are correspondingly connected with each other, so that the sum total of these scattered parts can function exactly as is proper for it to function." Yes! And another rose! Connected with this is Fern's differention and specialization of certain faculties in the animal kingdom, and furthermore the specializing of the different sciences at the moment, to in short add and augment experience, and then once again come to a 'Holy-Reconciling' which the trailbraziers of science/philosophy/religion have already began. We call these "seperate localizations " present in us "nerve nodes" which are in the region of our breast, "and the totality of these nerve nodes in their breast, they call the 'Solar Plexus." So we have the head, the heart, and the solar plexus, which I found back there in Mr. Hall's teachings, though Gurdjieff gives details in a different language. And two such stupendous minds are better than one. And there is the excellency of a third mind . . . Charlotte

Chapter 17 ends with Beelzebub informing Hassein that "in the presence" of each of his "favorites", us humans, the three holy forces of affirming, denying, and reconciling, blend "indepenently with other cosmic crystallizations, and go for the corresponding actualization . . ." of situations and things.
We affirm, deny, and reconcile indipendently according to our perception of things which depends on the reference field we work from, and also our nature or pre-disposition, which blends with how other humans see things according to all of the above, and furthermore blends with "cosmic crystallizations" such as the spatial bodies, molecules, atoms, concentrations in the subatomic world and what have you, and all this "actualizes" the conditions in the world and the state of phenomenal universe at the moment. This is how I think of quantum physics--according to the quality of consciousness of all the kingdoms in Nature.
The reason for the sorry state of affairs we have at the moment in the world, I understand Beelzebub to say, is because we have gradually established abnormal conditions for ourselves from way back, and we "have entirely ceased to fulfill" our responsibility of studying, searching, and thinking in order to find out who we are and why we're here because it is so hard and takes up so much time which we need to do more impotant things, and "in consequence of this, none of the holy sources of everything existing, with the exception of the denying source alone, is transubstantiated for (our) own presences."
The penalty for denying the opportunity for self-perfection is death because, when we don't subscibe to higher ideals only our planetary exists as it were. The way I saw this in a holy moment, was: the grand harmonious movement of the Great Entity Universe is totally oblivious, cannot acknowledge anything other than-- pure and perfect which it recognizes as part of itself and embraces to partake of ever-living.
On the attributes "proper to the omnipresent everywhere-penetrating" life force, or mercury, I say for now because I cannot define it correctly yet; sound has to come in here somewhere because hearing is also omnipresent, and the results it brings into play, Beelzebub will elaborate "in more or less detail" when he explains "about the fundamental laws of World-creation and World-maintenance."
Next he will tell "about those elucidating experiments concerning this Omnipresent cosmic crystallization" he was an eyewitness to, "not on the planet Earth which has taken your fancy--nor did your favorites make them--but on the planet Saturn where they were made by that three-brained being who during almost the whole period of my exile in that solar system was my real friend, about whom I recently promised to tell you a little more in detail."
He says "my exile in 'that' solar system", as if the planet Saturn belongs to a different solar system than the solar system "Ors". His real friend on Saturn "who had the exterior coating of a raven" was "Harharkh", whose very name caught my fancy immediately back there without knowing why. For one, probably because it sounded like 'hear and hark', and for another, because "the verbal intercourse of these beings, ravens, of that planet Saturn is something like ours." Ours meaning Beelzebub and his kin from the planet "Karatas."
For a third, because "their utterance" is the most beautiful Beelzebub ever heard, and one can know them "only by existing among them and by experiencing them oneself", and that "these bird-beings have hearts exactly like those of the angels nearest to our ENDLESS MAKER AND CREATOR", and they "exist strictly according to the ninth commandment of our CREATOR, namely: 'Do onto others as you would do unto your own'. "
Who wouldn't be intrigued by the bird-beings and Beelzebub's real friend "Harharkh".
Though limping, and omitting some things, I'm glad I made it through this chapter alive. I know it will be easier the second time reading, the third time should be a charm, the fourth a breeze and a cinch, and the fifth a "Harahrahroohry".
Affirming love to the World!

The yellow rose here to the left of my computer gives me the impetus to open Beelzebub again. It was a long and informative detour I took to Atlantis and Vulcan, and having read further in Beelzebub, many detours will come up, which must be more or less boring to everyone but me. I had hoped for help now and then from Coggas with the more difficult points, but since this is not the case and I'm in it alone, I will read, study, and put down my thoughts, one chapter at a time, on my word processor, preserving how I came to a conclusion, and just convey what I think is most interesting in simple language, because everything B tells is interesting. I was really all excited in the beginning, but a dialog with myself is neither inspiring, profitable, or fun. It also will give me time for other subjects I have been thinking of writing some. Have a great day everyone Charlotte

Boarding the Karnak again
Chapter 17 ended with the three holy forces in our presence, and which wording I really like, the "Holy Affirming", the "Holy Denying", and the "Holy Reconciling". All progress is made via these three, but we're mostly in a mode of denying.
In chapter 18 "The Arch Preposterous"
Beelzebub telles Hassein that some of his essence friends had not taken part in the events which caused him to be exiled. To lesson the effects of these events, his essence friends performed a sacred process concerning his personality which implanted in their presences what we know as "Trust-another-like-youself".
I trust only a handful of people like myself.
Just after Beelzebub arrived in the solar system "Ors", he visited among other planets the planet Saturn and met the "sole chief over all the other beings on the planet" called 'Harahrahroohry'. All other planets have similar chiefs with different names, on Earth they are called "kings", he tells Hassein. And on all the other planets in the solar system there is only one king for the entire planet, whereas on Earth "there is a seperate king, and sometimes even several for every accidentally segregated group. Reminds one of the war-lords. When it comes to power old costums die hardest.
While Beelzebub mingled with the three centered beings on Saturn he met the Harahrahroohry himself, they had an "Exchange -of-subjective-opinions", the chief invited Beelzebub to make his palace called "Harhoory" his home during his sojourn on Saturn which he appreciated and happily accepted. Who wouldn't like to live in a palace on Saturn?
One day, Beelzebub and the chief were "talking simply according to the flow of the what is called 'being-associative-mentation' when the chief mentioned that one of his learned beings named Harharkh had devised an exeedingly interesting appliance called a 'Rhaharahr' for the elucidation of the previously unexplained properties of the Omnipresent- Okidanokh.
Beelzebub visited with Harharkh to see if he could partake in one of the experiments. The Gornahoor Harharkh, then considered one of the formost scientists among the ordinary three-brained beings of the whole Universe, and whose "constations and elucidatory apparatuses", his inventions, were everywhere widespread and increasingly used by other learned beings on various planets, became Beelzebub's essence friend.

Thanks to the very learned Gornahoor also, Beelzebub was able to establish later his telescope on Mars, which, he says, "enabled my sight to perceive, or as I said, 'approach-the-visibility' of remote concentrations, 7,000,285 times".
Due to this telescope, Beelzebub's observatory on Mars was "considered one of the best constructions of its kind in the whole Universe", so there must have been other observatory's. And most importantly, he could, even while staying home on Mars, "easily see and observe" what transpired "on the surfaces of those parts of the the other planets of that solar system which, in accordance with what is called the 'common-cosmic Harmonious-Movement,' could be perceived by being-sight at the given moment".
Beautiful! What can be perceived by being-sight at any given moment according to the cosmic harmonious movement at that given moment. It is all inclusive, here and now, even being-sight. Love to Gurdjieff.

I found an interesting parallel here. The foremost scientist of the whole universe at the time, Gornahoor Harharkh, had an enormous workshop for all the appliences he used to elucidate "the properties of the Unique-Active-Element" consisting of three parts: salt, sulfur, and mercury, or psychologically: affirming, denying, and reconciling, which enormous workshop Gurdjieff calls a "Khrh". One of the experiments is about artificial light, which, when the Gornahoor pressed a button "the whole of the enormous Khrh or 'workshop' was suddenly so strongly lit up that our organs of sight temporarily ceased to function . . . "
"Uncle Ancient" writes: "In the last Age of Magic, orichalcum occured naturally, but could be created through artifice. Each process required the combination of True Elements. It is said that the Priest-Kings of Atlantis first discovered this magical metal . . . Many kaers kept stores of orichalcum (which were pinched by adventurers), as well as incorporated the magical metal into their defenses, usually the door of the kaer".
So here is the enormous workshop "Khrh" of the greatest scientist at the time, the Gornahoor, and the "kaer" where orichalcum was stored in a "talismonger's workshop, magicians forge". So the Gornahoor and Hephaestus are one and the same. Plato says in Timaeus that the priests of Memphis told Solon that the seed of his race was received from the Earth and Hephaestus.
I am not associating the two merely because the are spelled and sound almost identical, but because I read ahead some and because of othere references. These things are not fetched on pupose from afar to gain understanding, but come into focus and reveal themselves in the process of investigation. This is a perfect example of how it works. I just found myself sitting here with my mouth open marveling at just how huge, huge this picture is in its telling, after all, Beelzubub's wish is for his grandson and us to whom he has taken a fancy, to understand "World Creation and World Maintenance".

The great scientist Gornahoor Harharkh invented, and had in his enormous "Khrh" or workshop, which I think is the solar system, appliances, among them a "dynamo", something like a generator, and a "pump-of-complex-construction-for exhausting-atmosphere-to the- point-of-absolute-vacuum". Mention of "the-result-of the process-of-the-reciprocal-destruction-of-two-opposing-forces", or as we call it "the-cause-of-artificial-light". Proof again that the ancients knew what science has recently discovered. Gurdjieff learned from initiate teachers.
Beelzebub goes on to explain in painful detail what the Raven Gornahoor elucidated by pointing "with a special feather of his right wing" to a particular apparatus, and also what they both experienced while their planetary bodies were in special "divers suits and divers helmets" with "very complicated, what are called, 'connectors' projecting from them". One such connector was called "sustainer-of-pulsation", there was a connection like a telephone set up between Beelzebub and the Gornahoor for communication.
"But the most 'curious' and, as it is said, the most 'cunningly ingenious' of all the connectors there for various purposes on those strange diving suits and helmets was the connector created by the great scientist Gornahoor Harharkh to enable the 'organ-of-sight' of ordinary beings to perceive the visibility of all kinds of surrounding objects in an 'absolute-empty-space."
These words are golden: ". . . to enable the 'organ-of-sight' of ordinary beings to perceive the visibility" of things, because it means, that what we're looking at is looking at us.
Also, Gurdieff says that the surrounding objects are perceived in "absolute empty space", not in a "vacuum." So did the Gornahoor, or was this the time when the "misty" atmosphere we lived in long time ago, cleared? We evolved to a point where we didn't have to live any longer in a "bubble"? And after that and now space looks absolutely empty to "ordinary" beings? Maybe these divers suits and helmets are depicted on the cave wall and are mistaken for astronauts suits and helmets.
Actually, I think the Gornahoor most cunningly and ingeniously devised some connector to disconnect the faculty of ordinary beings to see "into" the ether.

Beelzebub says the Gornahoor and he had a connector going to their temples on each side of the head, which other end was joined to something else, and all the "objects whose visibility were needed during the experiments" were wired to all objects in, as well as outside the workshop. "It is very intersting to notice here that each end of that appliance---(I think the divers suit and helmet is meant)a creation almost incredible for ordinary three-centered-being-Reason---two indipendent connectors, also of wire, were led, and through them, what are called special magnetic currents flowed from outside". The truly great scientist Gornahoor not only created the connectors but also the magnetic currents so that "the presences" of learned and not yet perfected three-centered beings "might, owing to one property of the 'magnetic current,' be 'reflected' for their own essences and that, owing to another property of this current, the presence of the mentioned objects might also be 'reflected,' so that thereby the perception of the reality of the said objects may be actualized by their imperfect organs of being-sight in a vacuum containing none of these factors or those results of various cosmic concentrations which have received such vibrations, from the actualization of which alone the functioning of any being-organ whatsoever is possible". What? So one property of the magnetic current is to reflect our precence for our own essence, and another property of the magnetic current reflects the presence of objects, and thereby our imperfect organs of being-sight actualize the reality of objects? That would explain Joanne's signature over at Ma'at: "We don't see things they way they are, but the way we are. A lot to understand in this paragraph. Happy Valentines Charlotte

The tree-brained beings on Saturn used the word Gornahoor "in courtesy; they utter it before the name of one whom they are adressing", the same as we on Earth use Mister.
Mister Harharkh existed on Saturn, and at the time he met Beelzebub he had perfected himself only up to a certain state, "and a being with such a presence" can neither manifest himself nor exist in absolutely empty space, "even though the products of all three being-foods be artificially introduced into him in such a space".
But Beelzebub, who is also a three-brained being, "owing to certain particular reasons" existed on many occasions in atmosphereless spaces solely "by means of the Sacred 'Kreemboolazoomara', and because of this frequent repetition "a habit has been acquired in my presence of moving from one sphere to another gradually and almost without feeling any inconvinience from the change in the presences of cosmic substances undergoing transformation and which are always around both large and small cosmic concentrations . . ." But Beelzebub has developed "in an entirely special way".
Maybe it means that if we perfect ourselves to recognize that certain sacred substance, we could exist by it and travel from one sphere to another without space suits and helmets and breathe in the "being-foods" of all cosmic concentrations. Moving through different dimensions also comes to mind.

Hi Bernie, Even though it is still saukalt I'm glad all is well. I know there is not much to comment on this board unless you would really get into Beelzebub with me lol and that takes much time, neither does he make it easy to find a rose. But I feel that there is a wonderfully cultivated rose garden down the road and when the wind blows my way I get a very faint scent.
Gornahoor talks of the "power of 'force-of-striving", of introducing "into the clash of two component parts" of this "Unique-Active-Element" which peculiarities "are the chief cause of everything existing in the Universe", of introducing "a current of the third indipendent component" of that active element which then blends proportionally with the other two. So far, salt, sulfur, and mercury are the three components.
Gornahoor invited Beelzebub to partake in, and be "an eyewitness of many particular manifestations of the Omnipresent and everything penetrating Active-Element", everything penetrating from A to Z - Azoth. Beelzebub thanked the universal scientist and after thinking a second gave his consent "chiefly because I expected to optain in my being unchangeable and imperishable 'objective-essence-satisfaction."
How beautifully expressed, this blissful state of thirsting no longer which, having experienced it even once in a holy or being-whole moment, I think everybody is striving for permanently.
"Peace" said Aida the mortal soul

Gornahoor is capable of seperating the three forces of the active element, but when he re-combines them they blend proportionally "by themselves", and this "law-conformable" process "cannot be perceived by beings with any of their being-functions". It is the three in aspect and one in essence - divine workman Hermes or Huram Abif who "whirls through space organizing matter", making him the "builder and architect" of the universe. With the Egyptians it is Ptah whose consort irrk perpetually supplies him with "matter" to create forms.
In the Hindu system this activity of whirling by Hermes creates the "omnipotent waves", superstrings in modern science. "Kabalistically speaking", writes Madam Blavatsky, "the architect is the generic name for the Sephirot, the Builders of the Universe, as the 'Universal Mind" which is Hermes.
Gornahoor tells Beelzebub of the "clash of two component parts" of the active element, into which he introduces a "current" of a third indipendent component which current has to do with electricity. Madam Blavatsky writes:
"The hypothesis of Metcalfe respecting sun-force and earth-force (the two components of Gornahoor which can be perceived by beings with their being-functions) is not only very simple, but most fascinating. Here are two elements in the Universe, the one is poderable matter . . . The second element is the all pervading Ether, solar-fire. It is without weight, substance, form, or color; it is matter infinitely divisible, and its particles repel each other; its rarity is such that we have no word (well "Omnipresent Okidanokh") exept ether by which to express it. It pervades and fills all space, but alone it too is quiescent -- dead. We bring together the two elements, the inert matter, the self-repulsive Ether (?) and thereupon dead (?) ponderable matter is vivified".
So when ponderable matter and self-repulsive Ether "clash" a "current" is produced blending with the two and vivifying matter. Pretty nice.
Have a great Sunday

Madam Blavatzky's superstrings or "twister-space" of my teacher. "Light", writes Madam, "is the first begotten, and the first emanation of the Supreme, and light is life, says the Evangelist and Kabalist. Both are electricity--the life principle, the anima mundi, pervading the universe, the electric vivifier of all things. Light is the great Protean magician, and under the divine will of the architect, or rather the architects, the "Builders" (called One collectively), its multifarious, omnipotent waves gave birth to every form as well as to every living being." In a footnote belonging to ". . . the divine will of the architect" she says: "The Elemental Vortices inaugurated by the Mind have not been improved by their modern transformation." Hermes the Universal Mind is referred to many times as Thoth Hermes, or 'thought' Hermes, which only one person ever confirmed for me: Sebkhet. So why is it so hard to believe that thoughts are things? Madam continues: "From its swelling electric bosom, (from Light the great Protean magician) spring matter and spirit. Within its beams lie the beginnings of all physical and chemical action, and of all cosmic and spiritual phenomena; it vitalizes and disorganizes; it gives life and produces death, and from its primordial point gradually emerged into existence myriads of worlds, visible and invisible celestial bodies. It was at the ray of this First mother, one in three, that "God," according to Plato, lighted a fire which we now call the sun," and which is not the cause of either light or heat, but mearly the focus, or, as we might say, the lens, by which the rays of the primordial light become materialized, are concentrated upon our solar system, and produce all the correlations of forces." All this Gurdjieff conveys in different words. The title of Chapter 17 The Arch-absurd According to the Assertion of Beelzebub, our Sun
Neither Lights nor Heats I havent worked through it yet, but Gornahoor tells Beelzebub among other things about rays and about a huge "electric lamp", the sun. It has been pouring all night, or at least the time I woke up during the night, and is pouring non-stop. Maybe it's part of the climate change and the south-west will become a giant lush garden. Plato's words that "it was the ray of this First mother, one in three, that "God" lighted a fire which we now call the sun", harmonize with Fern's great space mother who gave birth "to the trinity creator", or the three aspects of Hermes, or three components of the Omnipresent Okidanokh of Gurdjieff, or Trimurti of the Hindus. "God as Mother" is an unfortunate term because the mind in its habitual way of thinking is misled, but not intentionally.
The assistance of Mr. Gornahoor "carried" him and Beelzebub "with the help of special appliances" into the workshop itself, "went out and hermetically closed behind them the only way by which it was still possible, if at all, to have any communication with what is called the 'Everything-representing-one-world."
They were isolated in this huge workshop of Gornahoor's, and a "pump" already working will soon "have pumped all the results her without exception of those cosmic processes, whatever they may be, the totality of the result of which is the basis and significance, as well as the process itself, of the maintenance of the existing of everything existing in the whole of this "Everything-representing-one-world."
I mean that's everything!
The then "still great universal scientist Gornahoor Harharkh", he "added in a half-sarcastic tone: 'Soon we shall be absolutely isolated from everything existing and functioning in the whole of the Universe; but, on the other hand, owing firstly to my own invention, and secondly to the knowledge we have already attained for ourselves, we have not only now the possibility of returning to the said world, to become again a particle of all that exists, but also we shall soon be worthy to become nonparticipating eyewitnesses of certain of the World-laws, which for ordinary uninitiated three-centered beings are what they call "great-inscrutable-mysteries-of-Nature" but which in reality are only natural and very simple results "automatically-flowing-one-from-the-other."
I don't understand the pump and being in a vacuum business, but there is a great amount of information in this last paragraph.

In the last paragraph of my last post, Beelzebub and Gonahoor have been "fitted upon very heavy appliances" so they could "exist in a sphere not corresponding for them." These very heavy appliances correspond to gravity because they were to exist for a time in a vacuum "absolutely isolated from everything existing and functioning in the of the Universe". But because of a new invention by Mister and the knowledge they both had acquired they can come back into time and space and again become a particle of all that exist in the Universe and partake in the natural process of results "automatically-flowing-one-from-the-other" as in quantum mechanics.
Because of the knowledge they have acquired also, they (or we), having attained to a certain state of consciousness, can witness how certain "World-laws" work, which remain a great mystery for "ordinary uninitiated three-centered beings . . ."
Because of how Beelzebub described Gornahoor Harharkh from Saturn in chapter 10, having the exterior coating of a raven, and being his real friend during the entire time he was exiled in our solar system, I thought he was an initiate. Later I read something related and thought he was a poet.
These "being-bird ravens" breed on almost all planets of our solar system and our great Universe, and the verbal intercourse of the raven's on Saturn resembles ours.
"But in regard to their utterance, it is in my opinion the most beautiful of any I have ever heard.
"It can be compared to the singing of our best singers when with all their Being they sing in a minor key.
"And as for their relations with others, they---I don't even know how to describe them---can be known only by existing among them and by experiencing them oneself.
"All that can be said is that these bird-beings have hearts exactly like those of the angels nearest to our ENDLESS MAKER AND CREATOR".
Gurdjieff says it is the initiated who understand world-laws, and watch the ways of the world, and Initiates are scientists as well as poets, and Shake-spear's utterances are the most beautiful I ever heard, and Francis Bacon was near our Creator. And as Gurdjieff remarks with exitement in his voice, these ravens cannot be described, they can only be known by experiencing them. And they have "a huge workshop" out of which they dimiss time and space with the wave of a hand or the wink of an eye.

As suspected from the beginning, the "Omnipresent Okidanokh" is Aether which in fact penetrates everything. It is called Azoth - the soul of the world, the anima mundi, the celestial virgin - the great Magnes.
It is the "great Protean magician", magical agent or astral light, and in correlating it's three forces, the experiment which Gornahoor demonstrated for Beelzebub, "furnishes the alkahest", the universal solvent. Transubstantiation, transmutation, and transformation occurs. Gornahoor is a magician, he can take Beelzebub with him into a vacuum and return with him to the "ordinary" world to again become a particle of all that exists. And as we talked briefly on Ma'at some time ago, the world of particles works the same way as the world of people, attracting and repulsing each other, "sticking" together because they have things in common, some remain alone etc., and the only constant is perpetual change.
Sorry about the repetitions necessary to sort things out.

More Etherial Stuff
Madam Blavatzky
". . . through the particles of the ponderable substance the ether (Ether's second principle) penetrates, and, so penetrating, it combines with the poderable particles and holds them in mass, holds them together in bond of union; they are dissolved in the Ether.
"This distribution of solid ponderable matter through ether extends, according to the theory before us, to everything that exists at this moment. The ether is all-pervading. The human body itself is charged with the ether (Say astral light.--H.P.B.); its minute particles are held together by it; the plant is in the same condition; the most solid earth, rock, adament, crystal, metal, all are the same.
"But there are differences in the capacities of different kinds of ponderable matter to receive sun-force, and upon this depends the various changing conditions of matter".
Gurdjieff agrees with changes occurring "of the presences of cosmic substances undergoing transformation . . .", and substances "are always around both large and small cosmic concentrations".
Madam Blavatzky:
"Solid bodies have attracted caloric in excess over fluid bodies, and hence their firm cohesion; when a portion of molten zink is poured upon a plate of solid zink, the molten zink becomes as solid because there is a rush of caloric from the liquid to the solid, and in the equalization the particles, previously loose or liquid, are more closely brought together".
This "rush of the caloric from the liquid to the solid" sounds like Gurdjieff's "clash of two component parts of the Okidanokh"; with Madam things equalize, and with Gurdjieff things blend.
Madam Blavatzky:
And so does prana (Jiva) pervade the whole living body of man; but alone, without having an atom to act upon, it would be quiescent---dead; i.e., would be in laya, or as Mr. Crookes has it, "locked in protyle." It is the action of Fohat (the current Gornahoor introduces) upon a compound or even a simple body that produces life".
Very interesting are her next words: "When a body dies it passes into the same polarity as its male energy and repels therefore the active agent, which, loosing hold of the whole, fastens on the parts or molecules, this action being called chemical.

Concerning Ether, Metcalfe, an "original and liberal thinker, undeniably, eminent scientist" according to Madame Blavatzky, has things to say worth repeating. ". . . what were the precise views of the immortal heretic, whose name I have whispered to the readers, (Samuel Metcalfe) representing the Sun Force. Starting with the argument on which nearly all physicists are agreed, that there exists in nature two agencies--matter which is ponderable, visible, and tangible, and a something which is imponderable, invisible, and appreciable only by its influence on matter--Metcalfe maintains that the imponderable and active agency which he calls ' caloric' is not a mere form of motion, not a vibration amongst the particles of ponderable matter, but itself a material substance flowing from the Sun through space". A footnote: "Not only "through space," but filling every point of our solar system, for it is the physical resedue, so to say, of Ether, its lining on our plane; Ether having to serve other cosmic and terrestrial purposes besides being the "agent" for transmitting light. It is the astral fluid or "Light" of the Kabalists, and the "Seven rays" of Sun-Vishnu". This material substance flowing from the Sun through space "filling the voids between the particles of solid bodies, and conveying by sensation the property called heat. The nature of the caloric, or Sun-Force, is contended for by him on the following grounds:- "(i.) That it may be added to, and abstracted from other bodies and measured with mathematical precision. "(ii.) That it augments the valume of bodies, which are again reduced in size by its abstraction. "(iii.) That it modifies the forms, properties, and conditions of all other bodies. "(iv.) That it passes by radiation through the most perfect vacuum that can be formed, in which it produces the same effects on the thermometer as in the atmosphere. "(v.) That it exerts mechanical and chemical forces which nothing can restrain, as in volcanoes, the explosion of gunpowder, and other fulmanating compounds. "(vi.) That it operates in a sensible manner on the nervous system, producing intense pain; and when in exess, disorganization of the tissues." Madam Blavatzky then gives a beautiful explanation, it, and Mr. Metcalfe's words are understandable, make sense, no "what about this" comes to to mind, and Gurdjieff describes more or less what Metcalfe and Blavatsky are saying in chapter 18, "The Arch-preposterous". All three are derided as heretics, and Madam, who writes circles around most scientists, a fraud? For convinience sake here is the explanation: "As against the vibratory theory, Metcalfe further argues that if the caloric were a mere property or quality it could not augment the volume of other bodies; for this purpose it must itself have volume, it must occupy space, and it must therefore, be a material agent. If caloric were only the effect of a vibratory motion amongst particles of poderable matter, it could not radiate from hot bodies without the simultaneous transition of the vibrating particles; but the fact stands out that heat can radiate from material ponderable substance without loss of weight of such substance. . . . "With this view as to the material nature of caloric or sun-force; with the impression firmly fixed on his mind that 'everything in Nature is composed of two descriptions of matter, the one essentially active and etherial, the other passive and motionless. Metcalfe based the hypothesis that the Sun-Force, or caloric, is a self active principle. (Gurdjieff's "Unique-Active-Element) For its own particles, he holds, it has repulsion; for the particles of all ponderable matter it has affinity; it attracts the particles of ponderable matter with forces which vary inversly as the squares of the distance. It thus acts through ponderable matter. If universal space were filled with caloric, or sun-force alone, (without ponderable matter), caloric would also be inactive and would constitute a boundless ocean of powerless or quiescent ether, because it would then have nothing on which to act, while ponderable matter, however inactive of itself, has 'certain prperties by which it modifies and controls the action of caloric, both of which are governed by immutable laws that have their origin in the mutual relations and specific properties of each." This is a working and elegant universe, moreover, it can be applied to man the microcosm. I don't know the current theory of modern science on ether. Much more can be read in "The Secret Doctrine I" chapter VII AN ATTACK ON THE SCIENTIFIC THEORY OF THE FORCE BY A MAN OF SCIENCE In summation, Mr. Metcalfe says: "I shall not dwell at great length on this unity of sun-force and earth, which this theory implies. But I may add that out of it, or out of the hypothesis of mere motion as force, and of virtue without substance, we may gather, as the nearest possible approach to the truth on this, the most complex and profound of all subjects , the following inferences:- "a) Space, inter-stellary, inter-planetary, inter-material, inter-organic, ias not a vacuum, but is filled with a subtle fluid or gas, which for want of a better term we may still call, as the ancients did, Aith-ur--Solar fire, Aether. (And as I said before, the Bavarians call it Brennsuppe=burning soup on which we swim) This fluid, unchangeable in composition, indestructable, invisible, (though it must be visible to some or it couldn't be known, C.M.) pervades everything and all matter, the pebble in the running brook, the tree overhanging, the man looking on, is charged with the ether in various degree; the pebble less than the tree, the tree less than the man. All in the planet is in like manner so charged! A world is build up in etherial fluid, and moving through a sea of it." It's true, I saw it, the coarse and the fine. "(b) The Ether, whatever its nature is, is from the sun and from the suns, the suns are the generators of it, (so say Gurdjieff also) the store-houses of it, the diffusers of it. "(c.) Without the ether there can be no motion; without it particles of ponderable matter could not glide over each other, without it there could be no impulse to excite those particles into action. "(d.) Ether determines the constitution of bodies. Where ther no ether there could be no change of constitution in substance; water, for instance, could only exist as a substance, compact and insoluble beyond any conception we could form of it. It could never be ice, never flint, never vapor, except for ether. "(e) Ether connects sun with planet, planet with planet, man with planet, man with man. Without ether there could be no communication in the Universe; no light, no heat, no phenomenon of motion." I can hardly stop, this is very exciting, don't you think Daz? As far as I can see, Ether, then, is the problematic "binding force" of modern science. Maybe they made up their mind by now and gave it a name. Charlotte

Beelzebub's explanation of the unpronounceable words he uses is as confusing, to me anyway, as the words themselves, but I'm sure he has a reason for using these words, my reason for saying a few words about them.
He tells Hassein that all the conversations he had with various three-brained-beings on various planets he "was obliged to exist for the 'Sins of my youth" where in an unknown dialect, and that he gives "only their sense in our speech", and that he will keep using those "specific names or rather consonances produced by what are called 'being-vocal-chords,' which consonances are used by your favorites of the planet Earth and which have now become for you, owing to continued repetition during my tales about them, habitual and easily perceived".
Easily perceived yes, I wonder if he means that our language sounds like jibberish and demonstrates it with those words which make kinks in the being-vocal-chords. Maybe he is hinting about the Tower of Babel because he says that in the dialects yet unknown to Hassein, that sometimes "in such dialects the consonances of which were quite 'indigestable' for perception by normal being function assigned for this purpose". I have a vage idea of what he means, but he talks in so much encompassing terms, and I'll wait till it gets easier.

Hey Daz, "Yes I do!" I almost responded with a joke, but I'm glad you find it interesting and exciting. For me it is a wonderful journey of discovery and an endless source of energy. Did daz get used to his new home and walks in the park with you? Bernie! It's Monday and you said we'll meet us Monday. Hope you had a good weekend in your humble chalet with good friends. Die Schneegloeckchen should peek out of the ground any day now, Mai is the month I used love the most wandering through Wald und Wiesen. (forest and meadow) I know you don't have much free time but check in now and then because Beelzebub is taking us back to Amu Darya, the Gobi Desert, and Atlantis, besides, I miss you company Charlotte

Dear CHARLOTTE ( and Others ! ) , please do not worry about me, cause i am very busy, but doing (relatively) well ! yesterday i had a short look at this forum, but no time ( and no lust ) to provide any comment. actually it is very cold here in bavaria ( up to nearly 30 degree MINUS - during the night , -- haha: today morning minus 24 degree in AUGSBURG, but only minus 20 degree on the ZUGSPITZE ! crazy ! ) -- ok, i have to stay ( at least ) 2 hours longer here, cause some important (computer)-productions-("ultimo")- races seem to have some bigger delays, because of some (still solved) problems in the last hours. ---- thus i will have some idle time in the late afternoon, time for an additional reply or comment ! greetings : Bernie

Good to hear from you Bernie I'm so glad I don't live in this coldness anymore. Do you have friends you can talk with in person over a good beer about the things we talk about here? I read "Isis Unveiled" and "The Secret Doctrine" beginning about a decade ago, and read in the two books every now and then, as I did in the past couple days finding more good stuff on ether, Hermes the fiery dragon, "an old glyph for Astral Light (Primordial Principle), which is the Wisdom of Chaos" etc., etc. It is hard to put either Madam Blavatzky's and Gurdijeff's books down even though both pulverize one's brain reading in them. Back to Gornahoor Harharkh who is in the giant workshop with Beelzebub, and even though Beelzebub's "being-existence" was "arranged in an entirely special way", he was able to exist in almosphereless spaces, when his friend Gornahoor turned on a switch and the 'pump' pumped out the atmosphere "with such force that such sensations were impressed on the seprate parts of the whole of my presence that even today I can very clearly experience the process of the flow of my state at the time and relate it to you almost in detail". This happened after Gornahoor informed Beelzebub "in a half-sarcastic tone" of what is about to happen. The reason Gornahoor showed Beelzebub the special appliances and did all these experiments with him was because he, Gornahoor "was informed of what was required of him . . ." Someone in the heavenly hierarchy told the scientist to show Beelzebub the ropes. In all his "three-being centers--namely, in the three centers localized in the presence" of all of us there "exist under the name of 'Thinking,' Feeling,' and 'Moving' centers--there began to be perceived seperately and indipendently in each of them in a very strange and unusual way very definite impressions that there was taking place in the seperate parts of my whole planetary body an indipendent process of the sacred 'Rascooarno,' and that the cosmic crystallizations which composed the presences of these parts were flowing 'in vain'." The "process of the sacred Rascooarno is the process of dying and Beelzebub was experiencing the death of the seperate parts of his body composed of cosmic crystallizations or our "planetary body", and there was nothing to be done about it.
