Interesting news.
Heard recently that Elon Musk aimes to reach Mars and colonize the planet to save humanity.
Technology could make us immortal. But there will be consequences.
"Immortality has gone secular. Unhooked from the realm of gods and angels, it's now the subject of serious investment - both intellectual and financial - by philosophers, scientists, and Silicon Valley set. Several hundred people have already chosen to be "cryopreserved" in preference to simply dying, as they wait for science to catch up and give them a second shot in life. But if we treat death as a problem, what are the ethical implications of the highly speculative "solutions" being mooted?"
So I give a thought to, not imagining, living on Mars, wurschteln along in our ignorance and confusion as we do here on Earth, they're probably jesting.

Huell Howser informs us about California with his show "California Gold". Yesterday, in Sonoma he had a conversation apropos the California Flag, the "Bear Flag Revolt, 1846", when Californis was a Republic, and different version of the Bear Flag. Looking at the early rendering of the Flag, Mr. Howser remarked in his homey way: "It doesn't look like a Bear, does it? It looks more like a pig", upon which my heart added an extra beat. Looking at the guide he repeated the comment/question, to which the guide or someone nearby said that its's probably a "bad drawing". It is not a bad drawing and does not look like a Bear because it was a pig, and when the Flag was raised the Natives were heard to say "Coche", meaning pig. The guide did mention Coche in passing. I was very happy to hear the remnants of the event because my understanding of the California State Flag depicting a pig, by Mr. Todd was confirmed. My understanding derived from my studies in European history, leading to California. I wrote about it here some years ago. The "better" history is always somewhat hidden, also of the Great Seal of the great State of California depicting Athena with Shield on which is winged Hermes, a pig by her side. The site won't post, perhaps copyright. If intereseted www.netstate.com/symb/flags/ca_flag.htmThe rendering of the Bear in the link is already modified.

Good thing I live on the right side of the tracks Hearing the whistle at dawn of the freight train moseying nearby invites the mind outward for a ride to go where it will go. Noisy when waiting in the car on Torrance Blvd for the train to pass is demanding of one's patience and jars the ear, watching it roll by is hypnotic.
