So, Pluto has been demoted and Neptune might be next.. I've read that there are car bumper stickers available that say "Honk if you think Pluto is still a planet" Anyway, here's a link to a few pictures that illustrate how insignificant we (Earthlings) are - www.rense.com/general72/size.htmJulia

Yes, thanks Julia, I just saw these nice images. You post the best pictures, aside from Daz of course. Pluto looks like led! The International Astronomical Union just gave a name to another dwarf planet discovered by Michael Braun, "Eris", Greek goddess of strife and discord, and her moon Dysnoma, who was the daughter of Eris, the "spirit of lawlessness." Is this indicative of the state of affairs of our time? The discovery and naming of planets parallel to what's happening on earth is very interesting in light of quantum physics. I have to check notes on it from a lecture given by one of my science teachers, Arthur M. Young Charlotte

The name Eris is very apt, I think, as the discovery of this troublemaking planet was the main reason behind Pluto's demotion.
However, according to Hesiod, Eris was not all that bad:
"She pushes the shiftless man to work, for all his laziness. A man looks at his neighbour, who is rich: then he too wants work; for the rich man presses on with his ploughing and planting and ordering of his estate. So the neighbour envies the neighbour who presses on toward wealth. Such Eris (Strife) is a good friend to mortals".

Oh, and Pluto has been given a new name; from now on it is just 134340..
