Well .......... some might disagre with me on it being the "ultimate" one ...but ...
Cigarettes .............
Its amazing to me that a company can put out a product in this day and time that is so dangerous to people and so addictive .... my Dad was one of the toughest men I've ever known but he was addicted to cigarettes and couldn't stop .... even after three plus heart attacks ... and two bypass surgeries .... in the end it was his liver that caused his direct death it was because his heart was partially dead and couldn't pump enough blood that his liver shut down .....
He died too early at 63 in 1996 and I still can't think of him being gone without crying
One of the best guys I ever knew .... Joe ... died at the age of 43 from a massive heart attack due to cigarette smoking .....
These things are poison .... they put substances in them so that people are hooked more easily and more completely .... I have seen people drink bottled water cause they're worried about chemicals in the water and then smoke! ........
They don't even have to put an ingredent label on cigarettes here ....... even though bottled water has to have one!

Hi Kat Actually, I read an article in a magazine (either Times or Reader's Digest as it was at the doctor's and they're the only two magazines I ever pick up. LOL) where they said that there really IS a "conspiracy" regarding cigarettes. They said that becuase many western countries were now more aware of the dangers of cigarettes some companies were going all out to get new smokers in South America and Africa by even offering free cigarettes at universities and other similar places where young people hung out. They also admitted that they are trying to make cigarettes more addictive by the new additives in them. My gran died a slow sad death being on an oxygen machine for 18 months because cigarettes had destroyed her heart to such an extent it just couldn't pump the blood around fast enough. Because the blood flow was so slow she suffered major water retention and blew up like a puffy balloon. She fought it bravely (and cheekily - she was half Irish after all!) all the way, but it was heart-breaking to watch. Now her youngest grand daughter smokes and has done since she was 13. She died at 14 from asthma and had to be brought back by paramedics... and she still goes on smoking! I worry about her all the time, but she's the most stubborn Leo I've ever met and I know she'll only learn by falling on her own face. Which in this case really scares me. Sandy smoked most of his life, but gave up the same day he asked me to marry him. Said he finally realised how much he had to lose! You could see the difference in him within 6 months. I really hate cigarettes. Not only for all the dreadful things they do but also because they give me asthma too. I've had to walk out of shops and even bars because someone was smoking near me. I say it's time the world grew food and worried about kids starving rather than growing a nasty little weed that can only make your life miserable.

Hi Guys [Gals ] I am a smoker and I believe I am more addicted now than I was say seven or eight years ago. I literally can't quit. I tried the newest pill [forget it's name] but found it was actually altering my brain waves [can you imagine my brain waves being altered, scary ]. After checking on the side affects on the net it actually stated that altering the way you feel was part of what this dope did. It actually interfered with your brain functions. This I could not allow. Needless to say I stopped taking this drug very soon after reading the article and noticing a strange change in my thought processes. [ No cheap shots such as how could I tell ... ] Now where did I put that pack ... Regards Don Barone

Michelle ........ very sorry about your Gran ... it sounds very much like Dad ... Dad bloated because his liver wasn't processing waste and it all backed up ....
Don .... its very weird ... I used to smoke ... and I tried and tried to quit ... especially after seeing what it did to Daddy .... three years ago I was on my way to work and stopped to get some coffee and cigarettes ... when I got back into the car I realized I'd forgotten the cigarettes .... I hadn't even started the car back up ... I could have gone back in ... but I just sat there ... and then said .. oh to hell with it I'll just quit ... and never looked back .... Jeff swears I'm the only person he knows who quit from being so lazy ... LOL ....
One of the guys I used to work with had smoked for decades ... he'd already had a heart attack and a bypass and he kept smoking .... then one day while searching for his lighter he'd decided he'd had enough of keeping up with cigarettes and lighters and ash trays and he'd just quit ..........
Its odd what triggers it .........
Just keep trying ..........

Hey Don,
You smoke because you want to, if you didn't want to you wouldn't, or else you are not your own master.
Smokin' Cogga's.
