Hi DAZ, seemed You visited the "Chateau de GISORS" and not Rennes le chateau !?? the castle of Gisors is of very interest in relation with the hidden treasuries of the famous TEMPLARS ("templers"). in the late seventies a friend of mine was there to make some metal-detector based explorations there, but "naturally" he was confrontated with some well known restrictions like "what you are doing here ?" ,.., "sorry, but this is not allowed to do" .. "restricted area" .. "private area" and so on. he tried to interview some people living there in context with some strange events two decades ago, but unfortunately his french was (is) only on a very low level. and at that time he and i did not know us, so i could not have assist him ! and in the last decades we all had been confrontated with too much activities, stress and sorrows, so that we have'nt been able to re-launch the former GISOR-exploration. some events in the fifties and sixties at Gisors are surely of interest, i know ! -- greeting: Bernie

Hi Daz, From the looks of it you probably didn't find the "Treasure of the Templars" or you would overexitedly tell us what it is. Not so bad the ticket, the last one I got for s-l-o-w-l-y driving by a schoolbus because everybody else did, was $420.00. I pleaded my case, namely, that I did see the flashing lights on the bus, but thought it was ok to keep on driving because the driver of the "lead car" must have had a reason not to stop, maybe a traffic cop hidden from my view behind the bus, before a judge, and he said: "Ms. Masuda, that sounds reasonable, but it is best not to do as others do, I'm afraid you have to pay the ticket anyway." So I asked: "Could your Honor maybe reduce it to half the amount because it is somewhat steep and I never heard of such a high traffic fine?" "I won't reduce it, Ms. Masuda, so that you remember to stop next time, but I'll give you a year to pay it, either in payments or at the end of the year in full." Nice judge, I thought, "thank you your Honor." To keep my record clean, I went to traffic school and in answering questions I told them about the chariots the ancient Egyptians rode through the desert chasing animals and aiming their arrows at birds, but for a Sunday cruise though the solar system they had wooden boats . . . Maybe the title is misleading, but I'm feeling totally p***ed off, by some French government dept....Dep au archetch historic bla bla bla et al! To be honest I thought I might make some capital out of my jaunt to the R-l-Chat. Now as of today I've recieved via post, that the items I declaired (being a law abiding citizen) have now been (I think it says this, it's in French) saved for the state, maybe further communication may follow.
As of a while ago I posted that I found no 'earth shattering artifacts of historical value' nor do I claim now I have, but I'm going to tell what I found.....
1) Iron key (my guess, it was magnetic) very corroded but a face of a lion (I think) on the solid thumb hold.
2) One (I'm sure) a Roman coin, in those days prominet poeple in Rome, a kind of posters today, but on coins made themselves popular, thanks to Liverpool Uni for info.
3) One live bullet circa WW2 German, no pin indentation.
4) One mess tin, British, aluminiun.
5) Small block of sandstone 7"x3" approx, carvings, unidentified.
6) Bronze cross (think it was bronze) on the rear showing N,S,E,W compass direction.
Next time, if there is a next time, I've learnt my lesson, boll*** to the authorities.
