The way most people come to know about RLC (including myself) is via the book "Holy Blood and Holy Grail" by Baigent, Lee and Lincoln. It's still the best starting point for English readers (accompanied with the proverbial pinch of salt). It's readily available new or used. Their follow up: The Messianic Legacy goes into more depth about Pierre Plantard and the mythical Priory of Sion and this is the point in the story where at least some skepticism about Plantard creeps in on the part of the authors. Henry Lincoln then went on to write The Holy Place, which develops the idea that the paintings by Poussin and Teniers contain maps of the RLC area. It's also worth reading, but I don't subscribe to the geographical map theory. For a quck overview of the story, try here: www.dreamscape.com/morgana/metis.htmOne should always bear in mind that all is not as it appears. For instance, The parchments containing the ciphers were admitted to be forgeries by Philippe de Chérisey, who made them. For more of an expose see Paul Smith's site: smithpp0.tripod.com/psp/idx.htmlUnfortunately, Paul has become a bit of a nuisance on many RLC related forums and some of what is on his site has been shown to be suspect. However, a lot of it holds up and it is the informaiton that is important, not the person that presents it. Joe.
