The old school.
I honestly don't know how anyone could have ever believed this.
... The Bent Pyramid is one of the Old Kingdom Pyramids at Giza, Egypt; built in the 4th Dynasty, 2680-2565 B.C. for the 4th dynasty pharaoh, Sneferu.
The pyramid is called "bent" because it changes angles at about 2/3 of the way to the top. To be precise, the lower 165 feet of the pyramid's shape is angled at 54 degrees, 31 minutes, at which point it abruptly flattens out to 43 degrees, 21 minutes.
Sneferu began his pyramid, but far too steeply, at an original angle of 60 degrees, and intended it to go to over 400 feet in height. John Romer speculates that while men were working inside the pyramid, ominous groans and cracks began to be heard. They stopped work on it, and built the Red Pyramid before returning to the Bent Pyramid, buttressing up its lower courses and adding the crown.

The New School:
The pyramids of Egypt were not tombs. They were however monuments to "The Gods" and those ancient Gods of Egypt were none other than ... THE PLANETS !!!
The boats found in the pits were not to carry the pharaoh to the stars but were in fact symbolic for how the planets, their gods, were visualized as they rode through the skies.
I have shown exhaustive research and proof on how Giza was simply, as Clive Ross first pointed out, The World's Oldest Book of Astronomy however I have always suspected that all of Egypt is really the book, or at least the remnants of The Third and Fourth Dynasties. with that thought in mind I turned to Dahshur and The Bent Pyramid to see if I could offer the same sort of proof here. If the reaction of my daughter is any gauge I may have succeeded.
There are many angles suggested for The Bent Pyramid and they range from 43 degrees to 43.5 for the top to 54 to 55 degrees for the bottom. I am about to offer a novel solution to what the exact measurement might have been. The base also has had many guesses that range from 360 to 362 cubits with the height anywhere from 198 to 200 cubits.
The top angle I have assigned a value of 43.494 degrees OR 43.5288 and I will offer enough evidence that it could have been either of these. Let us start with 43.497 degrees. For years we have been told that The Ancient Builders had no idea of decimals or of the sine laws but I must beg to differ as we see time and time again their complete understanding of these. So what then is the tan of 43.497 degrees. We find that it is 0.94886597.
This "tan" times the diameter of our Earth of 12756.28 kilometers gives us 12,104 which is precisely the diameter of our sister planet, Isis, oops I mean Venus. But not to be outdone they wanted to make it beyond obvious so they encoded a second ratio as well. Earth is 149,598,261 kilometers from The Sun and Venus is 108,208,930 kilometers from it also. The ratio of these two distances is 149598261 / 108208930 = 1.3824946 and the tan angle of this number is 54.12065 degrees. Extremely nice but they were not done yet.
Many guesses have been made for the height and the most obvious was 110 with 90 being the bottom height but I now suggest they were even more clever than we thought and in fact the measurement for the upper portion should be 110.01818 cubits. Why 110.01818 ? Well ... IT IS THE SQUARE ROOT OF THE DIAMETER OF VENUS OF 12,104 !! So square root of 12,104 is 110.01818. Very, very nice and they could have stopped there but they didn't ! Here is the first diagram as described above.
But they got even more clever. Just as The Great Pyramid has different side lengths to give differing results I contend that here at Dahshur it is also like this. So it can and probably is giving us at least two different results. So the changes although minor are very neat. We are going to change the base of the top portion from 115.95 to 115.8182. This to show us the distance from Mercury to The Sun of 57,909,100 x 2 = 115,818,200. By doing this however we change the results for the top angle from 43.497 to 43.5288 degrees. Can this new angle, although different, still give us Venus or The Earth ? This time we need the tan of 43.5288 and we find that it is 0.949920335. This time we reciprocate it and we get 1.052719857645. So if we multiply Venus diameter of 12,104 times 1.052719857645 we find we get 12742.12. Can this be Earth as well. I thought 12756.28 was Earth. Well yes it is but our Earth isn't a circle and the polar diameter is less than the equatorial diameter and so most books list a mean radius of The Earth and it is, according to the best guesstimates, and I am sure you all already know what the answer is, yes that is correct, it is Mean radius = 6,371.0 km x 2 = 12,742. What a nice little package they have left us and so cleverly designed. But they were not quite done yet. They decided to put in one more "nail" to convince even the hardest skeptic and so they made the total height equal the ratio of the volumes times the distance The Earth is from The Sun so we have 199.23 / 149.598261 = 1.331 and equaling the ratio of the volumes between the top portion and the bottom portion.
What an utterly amazing design. These ancient builders were genius'
The final measurements ?
Praise Ra !
And when I looked at my daughter and said well we have Mercury, Venus and Earth in this pyramid what do you suppose we will find at The Red Pyramid and with a Cheshire Cat smile she said, Mars of course !
